The “Association for Civil Society Development in Azerbaijan” has held a round table in the International Press Center dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the “Black January”, one of the most crucial events in the national liberation movement of Azerbaijan. President of the Public Union “The Caspian: Partnership for the Future” Rustam Mamedov; president of the “Free Speech” Foundation Musa Yagub, vice president of the Association Chingiz Ismaylov and “Human Rights Institute” representative Rovshan Novruzoglu spoke at the event.

The speakers stressed that “Politburo” had unleashed bloody terror in this country because it had planned to suppress the struggle for freedom and to smother the will of the people of Azerbaijan. The round table discussion also dwelt on the fact of the failure to attain this goal set by M.Gorbachev’s Soviet government, the malfunction that has eventually led to the collapse of the Soviet power and the successful achievements of the nation’s liberation movement.
